Graduate Nurse Program

St Andrew's Hospital offers a Graduate Nurse Program for newly Registered General Nurses. Graduates will develop the practical clinical and organisational skills needed for a successful career in health care.

Successful Registered General Nurses will be offered contract positions for the program that is usually undertaken over a 12 month period. Graduates normally work shifts rostered over 7 days. Six weeks annual leave is negotiated to meet the needs of the graduate.

St Andrew's Hospital will provide a supportive environment with a preceptor system designed to assist graduates in developing and consolidating valuable clinical and organisational skills.

St Andrew's Hospital will fully consider the graduate’s interest in gaining experience in a particular clinical area when planning each graduate’s individually structured program.

To successfully gain a place at St Andrew's Hospital graduates will need to demonstrate that they have the ability to:

  • Provide exemplary customer service to everyone with whom they come into contact
  • Work within a team and cooperate fully with all staff members
  • Strive constantly to improve both themselves and the workplace
  • Apply an excellent knowledge base to the clinical setting
  • Demonstrate safe practice at all times.
