St Andrew's Hospital Emergency Service is designed to
provide medical attention 8am to 10pm, every day.
Our medical and nursing team are experienced emergency care professionals.
The Emergency Service has been established to provide assessment of patients with acute medical and surgical conditions who:
- require an Acute injury service
- have a local doctor / specialist referral
- have been a recent inpatient at the hospital

Readily accessible from any route to the city,
St Andrews Emergency Service is geared to provide a convenient,
efficient service within comfortable surrounds.
Waiting times are significantly less than in emergency departments
of public hospitals.
Entry to the Emergency Service is via the
front entrance at 350 South Terrace ~ short term car parking is
available.
If you need to be
admitted
We will inform your family and general practitioner that you are
in hospital and generally assist in any way we can.
If you are insured
We will need details of your private health insurance, including
fund name, level of cover and membership number.
If you are uninsured
You may wish to pay the anticipated costs of treatment at St Andrews
Hospital or alternatively, be transferred to a public hospital once
your condition has stabilised.
Work related injury
If your admission is as a result of work-related injury, your employer
will be contacted to acknowledge the condition and accept financial
responsibility.
Rest assured that emergency care is not delayed while any of
these matters are resolved.
Follow up
We will keep your nominated general practitioner informed of your
treatment details either during your attendance or as soon as possible
afterwards.
A prescription will be written for any drugs needed after leaving
the Emergency Service.
