The Nursing Staff at St Andrew’s Hospital
believe in:
- Delivering an excellent standard of evidenced based nursing
care which meets our patient’s physical, emotional, social and
spiritual needs in a safe and trusting environment in a cost
effective manner;
- Respecting the rights of our patients to make informed choices
in relation to their care;
- Encouraging and supporting professional development;
- Ensuring that we create a harmonious environment in which our
colleagues feel valued;
- Continually exploring methods of improving the service and

- Respecting the accountability and responsibility inherent in
our roles as nurses;
- Ensuring that there is a strong respect for the dignity,
culture, values and beliefs of our colleagues, our patients,
their carers and/or support persons in the provision of nursing
care.
- Ensuring that we are influential members of the network of
health care providers in which we will positively impact on the
patient’s health outcomes. This influence will be undertaken
with full respect and appreciation of the role of each member of
the health care team.
This will be achieved by:
- Practising in accordance with the standards of practice and
laws relevant to our practice areas;
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care that
we provide and meeting agreed goals in conjunction with our
medical and allied health colleagues, our patients, their carers
and/or support persons;
- Providing exemplary customer service that incorporates the
principles of best practice;
- Providing opportunities for professional development and
skills acquisition;
- Assisting in the provision of high standard facilities and a
safe environment;
- Actively participating in the hospital’s Performance
Improvement Program and ensuring that the ACHS EQuIP standards
are met;
- Encouraging and supporting innovation and creativity;
- Supporting and caring for each other and ensuring that
communication is always appropriate;
- Practising in a manner that ensures sound financial and
business management.
