Kate Takes on Three Ultra Marathons for St Andrew's
January 31, 2026
In the first half of 2026, Kate will take on an extraordinary challenge: three ultra marathons, raising vital funds for a new hospital Wellbeing Centre dedicated to supporting people living with cancer.
This centre is more than a physical space - it’s a sanctuary. Alongside medical treatment, it will offer restorative experiences that nurture the mind, body and spirit. From mindfulness sessions, yoga and sound meditation to creative outlets such as painting, flower arranging and cooking classes, as well as gentle walks in nature, the centre is designed to support the whole person. A cosy library will also provide a quiet place for patients and families to pause, breathe and connect.
As a wellbeing consultant and ultra runner/hiker, Kate understands the powerful connection between movement, mindfulness and recovery. Cancer treatment places enormous demands not only on the body, but also on emotional and mental wellbeing. Experiences that foster calm, joy and connection can help restore balance and hope - elements that are essential alongside clinical care. Research consistently shows that when people feel supported and connected, their resilience grows, stress levels reduce, and overall wellbeing improves.
Every step Kate takes across these ultra marathons is for those facing one of life’s toughest challenges - a reminder that strength comes in many forms.
Together, we can ensure patients and their families have access to restorative services and activities that support them throughout their care.
