Eileen Sawyer - Chief Executive Officer
Eileen joined the St Andrew’s Hospital team as Chief Executive Officer in January 2025.
She has returned to her home city of Adelaide to take up this opportunity after more than a decade in London in senior leadership positions across a diverse range of industries and specialisations including aged care, property, infrastructure, financial services, hospitality and entertainment.
Her experience includes leading large and complex teams, financial management, compliance, risk management and investment activities including acquisitions and sales. She is passionate about delivering excellence in a culture that fosters mutual respect where people have the opportunity to prosper.
Eileen is a member of CPA Australia and holds Bachelor degrees in Commerce (Accounting) and Arts. She is also an experienced non-executive board member and trustee.
Eileen looks forward to working together with the Staff Executive Committee at St Andrew’s Hospital to continue the legacy of being the leading private hospital in South Australia providing medical and surgical excellence, within a supportive culture, where relationships matter, teamwork counts, and care exceeds expectations.
Sam Pafumi – Chief Financial Officer
Sam joined the St Andrew’s Hospital team as Chief Financial Officer in May 2024.
Sam is an experienced CFO, having held senior finance roles over the past 25 years in various sectors including member associations/insurance, automotive, FMCG, mining, pharmaceutical & manufacturing industries, bringing together global teams to deliver alignment on strategic direction and company outcomes.
His more recent senior roles prior commencing at St Andrew’s Hospital were, Group CFO at RAA, CFO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia, and Global Director of Finance for Treasury Wine Estates Supply Chain.
Sam’s role involves leading the dedicated team that deliver the functions of administration, business planning, accounting, budgeting, forecasting and related functions for St Andrew’s business activities. As CFO, Sam’s focus is to ensure the team partners and supports St Andrew’s and their staff drive towards its strategic goals whilst delivering outstanding customer service, providing sound advice to the SEC, the Board and its relevant committees, whilst leading and developing a high-performance team.
Sam currently holds membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ANZ), the Governance Institute of Australia (formerly ICSA), and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting).
Ms Jacquie Wiley - Director Nursing and Clinical Services
Jacquie has experience in public, regional and the private healthcare sectors. Jacquie has responsibility for the 550+ staff in the Nursing Division. An accomplished healthcare executive with a decade of experience directing nursing and clinical services and contributing to strategic initiatives. She brings extensive nursing experience in ICU, Anaesthetics, Recovery, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Endoscopy. Career marked by a commitment to elevating patient care standards and navigating regulatory landscapes. Known for fostering innovation, accountability, and high performance across multidisciplinary teams. Proven success in project management, budget oversight, and achieving stringent accreditation standards.
Jacquie is a Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), holds an MBA as well as formal qualifications in Intensive Care Nursing and Mediation.
Caroline Handley - Director - Human Resources
Caroline Handley commenced as the Director - Human Resources in August 2023. With tertiary qualifications in human resources and business, she is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Caroline brings significant experience to St Andrew’s, having held senior human resources roles across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, mining, media and most recently private health. Caroline is a Justice of the Peace and has a strong interest in employee engagement and well-being.
