Today we celebrate International Nurses Day and say a tremendous and heartfelt thank you to our talented and hardworking clinical teams at St Andrew’s Hospital.

Our nurses work every single day to save lives, ease anxieties, comfort families, provide care, learn and innovate, and to give hope in some of life’s hardest moments. They are front and centre in all that we do - supported by amazing non-clinical support team - and their care, kindness and skill is the defining experience of St Andrew’s Hospital for our patients and community.

Sister Janet Hay, the Founder of St Andrew’s Hospital, could little have imagined that the single-storey hospital of 16 beds she established in 1936 would, some 80 years on, employ a workforce of over 800 strong.

Our nurses are truly what make us exceptional, and they continue to demonstrate the same sense of passion, purpose and perseverance as the hospital’s Founder.
